I'm amazed, totally amazed.

Two days ago Pax posted about a pregnant Philidelphia woman who has been missing for 10 days. Part of the post was about how CNN seem to be obsessed about that girl in Aruba whilst there are people missing in the US who could use some of that coverage even if they aren't blond and white. One of the things requested to do was to write an email to Nancy Grace and ask her why she wasn't covering LaToyia's disappearance. Well, yesterday CNN actually had a story about her and mentioned the blogging campaign to get her disappearance noticed.

Colour me shocked, I was watching Nancy Grace tonight and dammit if she didn't cover LaToyia Figueroa's disappearance and the reward that has been posted for her. We actually made a difference. Wow.

Wow - we made a difference, I sent an email also, per Pax's suggestion, but I can't believe it actually worked. Makes one feel a bit powerful, in a good way!
Thanks for the update, now I just hope we hear about this girl being found safe and sound.

The Daily News yesterday mentioned the blogger who started the campaign!

It worked? woohoo. I'm guilty of not emailing, I figured it wouldn't work anyway, I guess I'm one of the guilty standbyers that watches the crime and says and does nothing, thinking someone else will..what's that syndrome called again? forget.

Fantastic. Always my response to the cynics of the world is, yes, maybe one person can't make a difference, but at least you get the satisfaction of knowing you tried. And every now and then, you can.

Thank you for mentioning that people who are not blonde and white (and perky) seem to never get attention. I am so glad and happy to hear the blogging community is making a difference!

This is truly something that the Philly Blogging community (and our dear friends elsewhere who helped) can be proud of ... now, if they could only find this poor girl. It does not look very good for her at present.
