The Coolest Christmas Lights EVER

Hey - Everyone HAS to check this out! This is the most amazing Christmas Light display I've seen! Watch this. Now I had seen this a couple of times over the past couple of weeks but it took me a while to get all the info on it. Apparently, this was set up by a man named Carson Williams in Mason, Ohio and it is indeed real. I understand that this is only the finale of the show which is actually 12 minutes long and, to those concerned about his neighbours lol, there is (or was) a sign on their front lawn telling people a radio station to tune into that was playing the music to go with the show. Ain't technology a blast?

The music btw is from a band called The Trans-Siberian Orchestra and the piece of music is "Wizards in Winter" from their CD "The Lost Christmas Eve". Enjoy.

Something for my 'Merican friends

'Twas the Night of Thanksgiving'

'Twas the night of Thanksgiving, But I just couldn't sleep
I tried counting backwards, I tried counting sheep.
The leftovers beckoned - The dark meat and white
But I fought the temptation With all of my might.

Tossing and turning with anticipation
The thought of a snack became infatuation.
So, I raced to the kitchen, flung open the door
And gazed at the fridge, full of goodies galore.

I gobbled up turkey and buttered potatoes,
Pickles and carrots, beans and tomatoes.
I felt myself swelling so plump and so round,
'Til all of a sudden, I rose off the ground.

I crashed through the ceiling, floating into the sky
With a mouthful of pudding and a handful of pie.
But, I managed to yell as I soared past the trees....
Happy eating to all - Pass the cranberries, please.

May your stuffing be tasty, May your turkey be plump.
May your potatoes 'n gravy Have nary a lump,
May your yams be delicious May your pies take the prize,
May your Thanksgiving dinner Stay off of your thighs

Update - I finally found where I had "borrowed" the poem from. It's from The Crazy Rants of Samantha Burns. Apologies to Sam for not clarifiying that earlier.

TA DA!!!!

So I FINALLY got the pictures of the mocassins!

These are the ones that I made - ankle high boots in black moose.

These are the ones that Sioux made - knee high mocs in black.

One of the other ladies made these - they are the same as mine in natural moose.

We also learned how to make these. Our teacher called them "medicine bags" but Sioux and I were thinking they would make great sachets.

And these are the famous slipper mocs - these ones have a fringe detail but we learned how to make them without it for the guys.

So whatcha think?

Just let me lie down on this couch....

As some of you may or may not know, I suffer from depression - sometimes it gets pretty bad. Lately, the happy pills haven't been working all that well and the icy fingers of depression have closed around my battered little brain. Maybe it's the change of the season or the fact that Christmas is coming ever closer but I've been kind of in the dumps for the past month or so. It's so stupid really because actually everything is going pretty well but sometimes, well sometimes I just can't seem to stop THINKING. Sometimes I can't sleep at all and other days I can't see to get my ass out of bed for anything except a quick pee. Gad, I'm so tired of being tired. Anyways, all of this confession is for those people who keep coming to see me and who I feel like I'm disappointing if I go too long without a post (Piggy), the people I've "met" in the blogging community are wonderful people and I feel like you are all my friends - sometimes better friends than people I actually "know". So, just hang in there with me while I fight the evil depression demon and I'll be back being my silly self in no time at all.

So I'm kinda stupid

At least, that's what the test says lol.

The Stupid Quiz said I am "Fairly Smart!" How stupid are you? Click here to find out!

Excuse me?????

Sorry for not posting all week, I admit it I've been incredibly lazy this week. I'll do better, k? Anyways, I have my rant for the week lol.

I like to think of myself as a pretty liberal person about most things. I'm not an incredibly strict parent except for a couple of things and one of those things is MANNERS. I don't know about anyone else but I know in my family growing up we had manners drilled into us so that even now when I meet strangers who are a)more important than me or b)older than me I find it exceptionally difficult not to use "Ma'am" and "Sir". At my last job, I used to get into trouble all the time because we weren't supposed to use those terms (we were supposed to use their name and I couldn't do it). Geez, I'm.....well, over 35 lets say (lol) and my aunt wants me to stop calling her Aunt Elizabeth cuz it makes her feel old and I just CAN'T do it. Now I spent alot of time teaching my children manners that went beyond just saying "Please and thank you" which seems to be the standard. Manners also include being nice to strangers (ie newcomers into your class, office neighbourhood whatever), treating others the way you would want to treated, along with the manners that will let my kids fit in no matter where they go. Jamie took his manners and decided it was too much work once he left the house. Katie, on the other hand, is polite to everyone and is wonderfully patient even when she's bored to tears, she knows what fork to use for what and what kind of wine goes with meat or fish. I've never considered this to be a waste of time as it will give her so many options as she gets older and will allow her to fit in nearly anywhere she goes.

The reason for this rant? Potsie's fiance has two daughters. One of them lives with her and Potsie full time now, let's call her Candi. Candi and Katie used to be like two peas in a pod. When they met it was like long lost twins finding each other and they loved being together. At first, the fiance and Potsie were living in our old house, then they bought a new house together and the two girls were sharing a room happy as clams. This has recently changed. Candi decided last year that she wanted to live with her mom full time and only visit with her dad on weekends and in the summer. Okay so far. In the last six months, Candi has become, well, to put it politely, boy-crazy and has been making lots of new friends in her new school. It all came to a head about a month ago when Candi was invited to stay the night at a friends house where they were having a birthday party for the friends older brother. Candi invited Katie along (I heard all this from Kate btw) and before Katie agreed she made Candi promise to include her because she didn't know any of these kids. Promised given off they went to the party. I won't even get into the party - it was what happened AFTER that pissed me off. Next day, they are walking home - a half hour walk apprx.- when Candi and her crony tell Katie to walk behind them about 10 feet cuz "they had to talk". Katie couldn't even just say screw you and head home on her own because she didn't know the way so there she was trailing after them ALL THE WAY HOME. They finally started walking with her about 2 minutes before they reached Potsie's place.

Katie came home telling me that she would only be visiting her dad from now on when Candi WOULDN'T be there as she wants nothing more to do with her. It took me about a week to get all this out of Katie and about another week to make her see that what Candi did was wrong and exceptionally rude. Even though Katie asked me not to, I told her dad because she hadn't been there for weeks and he was worried about why she hadn't come to see him. Let's just say that Potsie was unimpressed. This weekend Katie is back at her dad's place and is supposed to moving into their spare room so that she doesn't have to deal with Candi.

It could be that I'm just overreacting but I don't think so because I finally got out of Katie that this isn't the first time that this has happened. Now I know that teenage girls are evil, hell I was one, but this goes beyond just being thoughtless. It was so rude and mean I just couldn't believe it and especially to MY little girl. Am I just being overprotective and overreacting? Would you put up with YOUR kids doing something like that to a guest? Self=esteem is so fragile in girls at this age and I don't want Katie to think something is wrong with HER! So what is your opinion on all of this? Is Candi the one at fault or is this a parenting failure or am I just looking for a reason to rant? lol

Slowly but surely

So now that I'm healthy again, I've gone back to mocassin class and I've almost finished my first pair! Only a little more sewing to do and I'll have made myself a pair of shoes lol. I never really understood before the amount of work that went into making a pair of those things before lol. I have to get Sioux to take a couple of pictures of our mocs so that I can post them. BT says he wants a pair of slipper mocs now and Katie wants a pair as well. Seems like I'm going to making a few more pairs lol. Other than that, not much going on around here. I've found out that if you live in an apartment building, you don't get trick or treaters. Strange that, you figure the kids would be thrilled with that idea lol. Katie did get into the spirit though and dressed up as a native and handed out the candy at Sioux's place. She even brought some of that candy home to her dear old mum. :)

Hello cruel world.

Hi everyone. Sorry for the long break between entries but I haven't been the healthiest of chickens lately. I had the flu from Hell I think. Nearly two weeks of feeling like crap and losing things from both ends and I'm finally on the road to recovery. Thank the god of your choice. I'm back now though and I've been thinking about stories to tell etc so I'll be back tomorrow to bore your socks off again LOL
