Moving Sucks Part Deux
When we left our poor heros they were struggling to get everything in the truck to be on the road by 3:30 at the latest for the 1 1/2 hour drive to unload in Oshawa.
We moved everything big into the truck and packed as many boxes etc in as we could to get on the road as soon as possible. 3:30 rolls around and we still have quite a few boxes that arent' in the truck but we're off. BT and Katie leave in the truck and I stay in Hamilton waiting for the fiancee to come and pick up Potsie. It's been raining on and off all day so I couldn't just leave him to wait outside. As we are waiting for his girlfriend to show up, Rowan and the marvelous Mr. M turned up. It was nice of them to come and say goodbye - although we could have used Mr. M about two hours earlier LOL - just kidding Rowan. So I hang out for an hour waiting for the girlfriend to show up and then hit the road with the car loaded with stuff plus a dog and two cats in a car carrier. The cats were NOT impressed with this moving idea and complained at the top of their little lungs for the full 1 1/2 hour drive, they set off the dog who whined in sympathy. It turns out this is a GREAT way to get a migraine. Meanwhile BT and Katie have arrived but since BT has never even seen the apartment, they sit out in front of the building waiting for me as I fight traffic jams with the All Animal Chorus going full volume.
I arrived at 6 - 630 and we start loading things into the elevator. It was at this point I found out that the help I had arranged in Oshawa was not going to be showing up. Turns out D's father had thrown out his back and needed D to help him. His dad is 78 so I guess I can understand him not helping me in favour of his dad LOL. We worked like mad to get everything up to the apartment in record time because we only had the elevator until 9 pm. Needless to say, we did NOT get everything in. About 930 we packed it in and drove the truck over to D's house to park it (funnily enough there is nowhere to park a 26 foot truck at my building lol). Bright and early, I go talk to the super and she can let me have the elevator for a few hours until the next people who have booked the elevator show up. So we work like madmen again for two hours and then we have to hand off the elevator. At this point there wasn't much left in the truck but we were exhausted so we parked the truck again and crashed very very early. We can't even use the elevator the next day as it is going to be "down" for repairs for at least a week.
So now the truck is a day late *sigh* and we still have stuff in it. Turns out Uhaul has this little deal going on where you get a free month's storage space if you are moving out of town so off we go to return the truck and rent a storage space for a month. It turns out the space isn't entirely free lol - you have to pay a $20 administration fee but by that time we really didn't care we just wanted to be done with the truck. I'd like to say that even though their reservation system is a joke, the people at Uhaul really did work at making sure we got a truck, gave us a bigger truck than we asked for and even gave us mucho extra milage to cover the trip to Guelph. The man at the Oshawa place we had to go to to return the truck on the other hand was a RUDE BASTARD. I ended up getting there first as BT stopped to gas the truck and the FIRST thing I said to the man was 'I'm returning a truck - it's just getting gassed at the moment - and it's a day late." First thing he said was "Yeah? Right, I've heard THAT one before" Exsqueeze me? I obviously must have the face of a liar or the tone of a crook or something because he made one hell of snap decision. Anyhow BT shows up with the truck, we get the storage space, unload the truck and clean it out. We go back into the office and the guy is totalling everything up when he looks up at us and says " Hey!!! This truck is a day late." Really snottylike - like we were trying to trick him or something. Well no shit Sherlock, I guess he wasn't paying attention to me after all. Jerk. So now we have a storage space for a month that is about the size of your average powder room and let me tell you this was ONLY going to be for one month because he wanted $80 a month to rent that space. Jumpin Jehosaphat!
Two days later, BT and I go back to Hamilton to load the car up with boxes and we find out that in the two days we've been gone someone stole my lawnmower (that didn't work anyhow) AND BT's satellite dish with all the wires! BT is STILL fuming over that one.
So FINALLY as of last week, we have everything here now - no more boxes, no more trips to Hamilton or the storage locker, all the empty boxes have been removed and our storage room here in the apartment is packed full of "stuff" and I'm edging closer to happy.
Later I'll tell you about Bell and why I hate them so bad LOL.

moving is never fun, but it's done now, so things can only get better - yay for you and all who helped :)
Do you know, this brings back so, so, so many memories.
Why does moving have to be such a pain in the arse? And why do we have to deal with the jerks at the truck rental place each and every time?
*settles down for the next instalment*
Oi! Tony!, Ask Maidink to pass the popcorn along the row. I'm starving.
The next commenter is demented. That one underneath.
So, are you trying to tell us moving sucks or something? lol
Damn girl, that sounds like a barrel of monkeys!
But I've been there -- moving sucks no doubt about it!
I have moved more times than J-lo's ass, it's a horrible thing. Have a beer honey and chill, soon it will be all over.
OMG--what a nightmare. I will be experiencing my own "moving" adventure within a month or so. ACKKKK
Hey! Where did my comment go! I KNOW I made one yesterday, early in the day too! WTF??? I don't really remember what I said, but it was probably something really profound, like doesn'tn moving suck? Oh, and message me would ya?
I think you're right on track and not many people are willing to admit that they share your views. episode guide lost is an AWESOME place to discuss LOST.
