My brother is trying to rent out his cottage for the summer, on a week by week basis. I, of course, am drafted to help - this is my understood job after years of being big sister only THIS time he's gonna pay me to do it LOL.
Now I understand how to get it advertised here in the great white north BUT he'd really like to rent to foreigners - he thinks (and I kind of agree with him here) that they will take better care of his cottage and are less likely to steal his stuff. My problem is - I have no idea where to even start putting the info on the cabin so that european peoples can even think about renting it (and do I have to advertise in euros??? I don't understand those yet :() I need some help from the 'murricans in the crowd too.
Okay this is the cabin looking at it from the water's edge. Ignore the harley.

This is the view from the cottage looking towards the water - from here you can see the dock and size of the boat you can dock there.

Last but not least, a photo of the sunset from the waters edge. Beautiful ain't it?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks y'all.

I suggest that you google "renting a cabin where (your brother's cabin is)" to see what service comes up LISTING those cabins. Talk to one of the representatives who run that rental service or several of them. We have always looked on line when we want to go somewhere far far away. His cabin needs to be "find-able" on line ... how do you get it onto hotels.com or bed and breakfast dot com (do they have one?). We rent out our houses and list ours in local papers and local penny savers (publication) but you would probably get the most hits if you were on a travel site. Like travelocity or cheapflights.com or one of those servers.
That's where I would check. But I don't know how to get connected.
But if you had your own web page for his cabin, at least you would start getting hits when people google cabins on lakes (if you have the right buzz words they google you first)
And what about e bay? E bay is in Europe too.
On to sound drivers. I have no idea what I even look at to know what kind of sound driver I have ... but you must have gotten the right kind of energy going with your super kind offer to help, because a friend is coming over tomorrow to look at it.
I can't even BEGIN to tell you how thoughtful I thought that was that you were ready to help me restore sound to my pc. Thanks so much.
You really are sweet.
Wendy
*blushing* awwwwww I just offered to help cuz then you can listen to what I put up on my blog LOL so selfish really lol.
To find out what you got in your computer for sound you just go to your control panel (in your start button there on the bottom left) and open your sound devices icon. There will be the wealth of information you need. Then you just go to Drivers.com and you can get drivers for just about anything there.
I'm putting the cabin onto a cottage rental site but he really wants to advertise specifically to non-locals. Hell he even had me check out the prices to advertise in Field and Stream. OUCH it was pricey. LOL
Also ... re the cabin .. . you want a picture that shows the cabin in more detail. You want to have interior photos and a list of perks that go along with it. Do they have lake access? country club access? How far to restaurants? Fine dining? Attractions? Golf? Will use of water equipment be included? Does cabin have AC? Is kitchen stocked with pots, dishes, utensils etc? Linens are included? (Lots of people offer lake side rentals, so you have to make yourself competitive by including perks). Look in an outdoor magazine or a travel magazine too. I think they have listings in the back for get aways ... see which ones sound attractive to you and see if you can offer similar things at least in your wording.
You've probably heard enough out of me now, huh?
(btw, remind me: Are you in Canada? Is the cabin in Canada? People LOVE to go to Canada. And if you are'nt in a "resort" area, you can still say that it is less crowded, more intimate, more private). The lake picture looks good.
"No audio device"
... I think my son deleted it. Just like he deleted my icon.
Good ol Larry will help tomorrow.
Yup getting more pictures of the cabin/cottage are forthcoming - I have to wait for brother dear to come up with them as I'm not driving all the way out there to take pictures for him too LOL
It's considered a very very good fishing destination (rice lake) supposedly it has more fish per square whatever than any other lake in ontario. I've been trying to think of everything I can to make it attractive (including finding a crib and a highchair for the place). I've checked other places around there that are charging about the same prices for pretty much a comparable place and some of them are already booked solid for the summer. LB(little brother) just wants to try and get non locals.
First of all, I am NOT going to ignore that Harley, and second...well, there is no second. I really like the Harley. I have no suggestions for you. We actually did our house hunting for England while we were still in the States because we just went to British Realtors online. So I think Wendster's suggestion of a web page is a good one.
And yes, you were right-- you were brilliant!
I'll see if my friend over here can help. No promises though ;)
I would go anywhere in Canada rather than be here for a minute in August.
Don't know jack about this, but the cabin is a real beaut!
