All's quiet on the western front

Still no news about Jamie. I still see him out there with his friends here and there. I even drove past him the other day and he turned and watched me drive past. I can't help but wonder if he thinks that he has burned his bridges and that he can't come home now. I can only hope that he'll come back to me.

Katie is home again even though she's not supposed to be here until the weekend. Potsie(her dad) and I share custody, during the school year they are here with me all week and he has them on the weekends - Friday night until Sunday night and during the summer we switch. This week she and I are supposed to be at (god help us) the Peach Festival on Friday night working hard for her sea cadet corps, then her father and her will be the cookin' fools on Saturday during the day and Sunday is his work picnic so I am the Keeper of the Katie during the week. Maybe I can actually get her to clean out her room while she's here hahahahahaha I'm dreamin. I was reading Zoe's blog and saw the pictures of her daughters' room and I was thinking "hell, Katie has that beat". I need to take pictures because no one will believe it otherwise, hell the first time BT saw her room he was stunned - he thought girls were neater than boys. LOL Mostly for her room I have a don't look, don't nag policy but since school is starting we need to weed out all the stuff that doesn't fit etc.

I'm sad

My heart is breaking, I just don't know what to do about Jamie. BT and I went out with my daughter today to get her "going into high school" present - an MP3 player that she paid half and I paid half for. We come around the corner of the parking lot and there is Jamie and his 5 or 6 buddies. As I walk around the corner, Jamie starts barfing his guts out then he raises his head and my heart just broke. He had "loser" written on his head in huge black letters, it was written on his arms and on the back of his neck. Someone had put make-up all over his face too. He doesn't seem to know that they are all making fun of him and they use him as a whipping boy. Jamie is developmentaly delayed - he may be 17 physically but mentally he's around 13. BT tells me not be too worried that he will be coming home soon. I wish I could just go with that but I'm terribly worried about him. What happened to that little boy that loved me so much? followed me everywhere? wouldn't even let me go to the bathroom by myself. My beautiful, beautiful Katie makes me feel better - she's smart, funny and soooo mature for 14. I hope she doens't stop loving me too.

Just waiting for the nice young men in the white coats.

I just can't believe what he's done now. I know I was no picnic as a teenager but I like to think that I wasn't inches away from driving my mother completely insane. Jamie buggered off again today and I hadn't seen him all day. I ran into one of his friends in the parking lot this evening and his friend tells me that the police have Jamie and his scruffy little friends descriptions and are looking for them, I was surprised to say the least. According to this other friend of his, the reason that he was out in the boonies last night was because Jamie and his friend had stolen a car!!! Who should then come strolling up with his criminal friends but Jamie who is running every time I tried to get close to him. Next thing you know, up roll the police who start talking to all these kids (seems that there has been a rash of bike thefts in the area) and Jamie starts running his mouth and then there he is in the back seat of the police car. Well, I wasn't going anywhere at that point - little brat or not, he's still my son. The officer talks to Jamie for 10 minutes then gets out of the car and asks to speak to me. Seems Jamie has told him that I have been keeping him captive and that because he is 17 I'm not allowed to keep him in the house against his will. Ok background time - Jamie has been grounded here and at his fathers for stealing from me and BT. Jamie decides he doesn't want to deal with his father and stepmother and causes sooooo much trouble over there that they kick him out and tell him to walk to my house. He then makes up his mind that he's not coming here either since he's in trouble here as well. Four days later he comes home - dirty smelly hungry. So to stop him from pissing off from his grounding, I took his shoes. He just found another pair and took off again. Four days after that, he broke into the house by crawling in through the livingroom window (after destroying the screen) in the middle of the night. I took those shoes. He took off again the next day with another pair of shoes. Last night after I drove all over hells half acre to get him, I took those shoes. He took off today with my flip flops on. Oh yes, I'm soooooooooo mean, he never even asked if he could have his shoes back. I explain all this to the cop and he says well you can't make him stay and if he won't live by your rules you should just let him go. So as of tonight, Jamie packed himself a garbage bag full of mostly dirty clothes and his shoes and left. *sigh* teenagers.

Arg!

Well I think my son is well on his way to driving me mad. He has taken off - just left- for the third and last time yesterday. Tonight he calls me and wants me to come and get him. Somehow, he has gotten 50 km away and doesn't know where he is etc etc etc. I drive all the way out there an find him at some strangers house where he just walked up to their door and asked to use their phone. These incredibly nice people had let him (and his equally scruffy friend) into their home to wait for me to pick him up. I didn't know people like that still existed. So to the nice family that couldn't stand to see two scruffy boys lost on the country back roads wait to get picked up in the driving rain, thank you thank you thank you. Now I just need to keep myself from strangling the obnoxious little bastard.

Thinking

I was reading "This could only happen to me" and she was talking about a childhood memory that she shares with her best friend and I was trying to think about my childhood. I lived in a small city (pop. 150,000) and i suppose it was a much more innocent time. During the summer, my parents saw my brother and I at meals. We'd get up and have breakfast - head out to play, come home for lunch, head out to play again, home for dinner, out to play until the street lights came on. Dear Lord, if my children had done that when they were 6 or so I would have been a basket case convinced that perverts were hiding behind every bush just waiting to kidnap them. Makes you wish for more innocent times. Nowadays you want to know where they are 24/7. Of course now that the sprogs are teenagers I'm not any less worried, though now my worries are a little less hysterical just pregnancy etc. hahaha. Enough about them for the moment though I will have to spout off about Jamie and his attitude eventually.
The BoyToy got his new car and damnnnn its nice. It's a little difficult getting used to driving a standard again but I think both BT and I will get it soon enough.
